US Patent awarded to Elliot Davis, D.D.S., for a unique method to improve periodontal health when moving teeth.

The US Patent and Trademark Office awarded Elliot R. Davis, D.D.S., a patent (#9,861,451) for a breakthrough tooth movement treatment which focuses on helping those suffering with periodontal disease. Tinnisense Aligner Care is an innovative method which reverses the harmful effects of bad tooth positioning that causes gum, bone and occlusal diseases.

"This patent is a major advance in the evolution of tooth movement therapy that will help countless people suffering with mild to moderate oral sensitivity and periodontal disease.”

Executive Summary

The Tinnisense Aligner Care (previously called “ART”) method patent is for a sophisticated aligner technique that moves teeth in patients with gum and bone disease and other conditions without harming them. This is the first dental aligner system based on gum health improvements, as opposed to teeth positions, to assess success. It is a non-invasive, long-lasting alternative to periodontal surgery, orthodontic aligner, and conventional orthodontic treatment.

Information is available for those interested in licensing this technology or investment opportunities.

Distinct Goals

While Tinnisense aligners are visually indistinguishable from orthodontic aligners, they are elegantly programmed with significant advances to facilitate:

  • the reduction, if not the eradication, of periodontal disease,
  • the foundation for a lasting result.

Tinnisense Care is the first dental aligner system to rely upon the health of the gums (e.g., Gingival Health Levels I, II, and III) to confirm positive changes are occurring. Broad and measurable improvements to the periodontium provide confidence to patients and clinicians that the teeth’s supportive complex, the basal alveolar osseous process, is being enhanced. Dr. Elliot Davis believes, “This is a major advance in the evolution of tooth movement therapy.”

Tooth movement therapy via traditional and aligner orthodontics utilize teeth positions to measure the efficacy of the result — gum health is not a criterion.

Who Can Benefit From This New Therapy?

Non-invasive and dentally gentle, Tinnisense Dental Care can predictably treat those struggling with:

  • active periodontal disease;
  • temporomandibular joint dysfunction ([TMJD] / jaw pain);
  • general dental sensitivity;
    tinnitus;
  • whether to proceed with elective orthognathic
  • surgery or this non-surgical alternative.

This is excellent news for many previously told they were ineligible for teeth repositioning treatment based on widely-accepted orthodontic criteria. Dr. Davis notes, “Offering a viable non-surgical option to those considering orthognathic surgery fills a major void in the treatment spectrum.”

Market Size

The size of the United States and Canadian markets for this distinct tooth movement protocol is comparable to those for traditional orthodontics, orthodontic aligner therapy and periodontal graft surgery. More simply, it’s expected that once Tinnisense Care becomes widely available to practitioners and their patients, millions will be able to receive this elevated standard of dental treatment. Dr. Davis says, “patients gush when describing how their hygienist and dentist marveled at their healthier gums.”
